This is a series of rites that you either pass or you don't there are 12 parts of it referred to as trials and tribulations you gained something from each trial and tribulation that is passed. I see and if you complete all 12 you can not only a companion but also am artifact that shows you passed and helps amplify any magical workings you or your companions do.
